Mallory Burch Alabama School of Math and ScienceBaldwin County A precocious young lady, Mallory grew up in Loxley, Alabama where at an early age she began studying animals as well as diagnosing their ailments and conditions. While other girls were playing with their Barbie dolls, Mallory was reading veterinary medicine books, shadowing vets, and listening to farmers at the local feed store. One of the things she discovered from them was the lack of and subsequent need for large animal vets in her area. Mallory has earned over 300 volunteer hours while working with Youth Ministries SGA and Habitat for Humanity. In school, Mallory participated in the band, played softball and volleyball, and helped her fellow classmates by being part of the peer mentoring programs at her school. Based on her experiences and growing up in a rural community, Mallory plans to give back to the community and pursue a career as a large animal veterinarian at Auburn University.
