"Alabama Scholarships for Service, Not Just Grades"

Leann Muller, Lauderdale County Senior, Receives Smith Scholarship Award

Scholarship awarded for character, service, and ambition

Leann M. Muller of Lauderdale County High School has received the prestigious Smith Scholarship Award. Leann will be attending college to obtain a degree in Nursing.

The Smith Scholarship is not singularly focused on test scores or grades. Instead, the Foundation seeks students who have demonstrated a desire to give back to others through volunteer work or assistance to family, while remaining actively involved in their schools and communities.

Leann’s guardian was stricken with MS and several local families opened their homes to her allowing her to finish her senior year of high school. Leann has excelled academically while participating in basketball and volleyball, with extensive community service work. She is a member of the Key Club, FBLA, FCA, FCCLA and a member of the school’s Environmental “Green Team.” She also works in her church’s youth program and promotes anti-drug, anti-violence and anti-bullying with “Peers for Life.”

The Smith Scholarship Foundation is the largest privately funded scholarship program in the State of Alabama.
